Robin Lund Joins Board of Directors
WATERLOO, IOWA (June 10, 2013) – Build Our Ballpark, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth by providing the opportunity to play baseball and softball, has announced the addition of Dr. Robin Lund to its Board of Directors.
Lund is an associate professor of movement and exercise science at the University of Northern Iowa. He also coaches his three children’s Optimist League baseball and softball teams, and leads a group at UNI in conducting in-depth research on softball and baseball.
Lund joins seven current board members including Bob Hellman, Mike Ruane, Michelle Temeyer, Mark Ryan, Ryan Risetter, Alli Ingman, Randy Pilkington and Kim Rogers. Members are charged with steering the organization and assisting in fundraising efforts to build and restore ballparks intended for youth baseball and softball.
“Robin has extensive experience in coaching and researching baseball and softball, and his passion for the game is unparalleled,” said Bob Hellman, Executive Director of Build Our Ballpark. “We are thrilled to have him on the Board to bring some new ideas to the table and reenergize our work.”
Lund’s appointment comes as Build Our Ballpark prepares for the June 20 Grand Opening of the newly renovated Riverfront Sports Park. This complex serves youth from northeast Iowa and surrounding areas. The two-year, $900,000 renovation has completely rejuvenated the existing complex.
Build Our Ballpark has built or renovated nearly all of Waterloo’s youth fields and is currently looking at new opportunities in surrounding communities. To learn more about Build Our Ballpark, visit www.BuildOurBallpark.org.
